     The chakra system is an ancient map of seven main energy centers and it offers a profound lens to understand where we hold tension, trauma, or disconnection. When a chakra is blocked or imbalanced, it manifests as emotional patterns, relational struggles, or even physical symptoms.

     Through awareness and gentle healing, we can bring these energy centers back into alignment, reconnecting to our authentic power, purpose, and inner peace.

The Energy of the Third Eye Chakra

The Third Eye Chakra, or Ajna in Sanskrit, is the sixth chakra located between your eyebrows, slightly above the bridge of your nose.

It governs intuition, perception, imagination, and higher understanding. This is where logic and intuition merge, allowing you to see life beyond surface reality and access deeper truth.

A balanced Third Eye helps you trust your inner guidance, see clearly through illusion, and make aligned decisions with calm confidence.


Signs of a Blocked or Overactive Third Eye Chakra

When this chakra is out of balance, you may feel disconnected from your intuition, overly analytical, or trapped in confusion and self-doubt.

Signs of a Blocked Third Eye Chakra:

  • Difficulty making decisions

  • Overthinking or mental fog

  • Lack of clarity or direction

  • Disconnection from intuition

  • Distrust in your own inner knowing

  • Feeling “stuck” or uninspired

Signs of an Overactive Third Eye Chakra:

  • Spaciness or disconnection from the body

  • Over-reliance on “signs” without grounding

  • Escaping into fantasy or spiritual bypassing

The Third Eye chakra thrives when intuition and logic are in partnership, not competition.


The Third Eye Chakra & Intuition

Your intuition is your inner compass, "the quiet knowing that transcends logic". It’s not loud or dramatic; it’s the subtle voice that says, “This feels right,” or “Something’s off.”

It's important to note that until you heal from past trauma and regulate your nervous system, your 'intuition' is often just post-traumatic stress (PTS) in disguise. Trauma messes up your thoughts, nervous system, bodily health and much more - but it can be very discreet, which is why self-awareness, introspection and guided healing is so important. You might not know your compass is broken until you've arrived where you don't want to be, always missing the destination where you do. When this chakra is balanced, you naturally trust yourself, perceive truth clearly, and feel connected to your inner wisdom. When blocked, you may rely excessively on outside validation, struggling to discern what’s true for you.


How to Heal and Activate the Third Eye Chakra

Healing this chakra involves restoring trust, presence, and energetic clarity to guide you in reconnecting your mind with your higher consciousness.

1. Cultivate Stillness & Mindfulness

Your inner wisdom can’t speak through constant noise. Create daily moments of stillness with meditation, nature walks, journaling, or simply breathing with awareness.

Each pause helps you tune into your inner voice beneath the mental chatter.

Affirm: “I trust the quiet voice within me.”

2. Strengthen the Mind-Body Connection

Intuition speaks through the body’s sensations, a gut feeling, chills, or warmth in the chest. This is why feelings and emotions are important; contrary to popular belief, they're not annoying, they're our guides. They let us know if what is happening is desirable or not. The more you honour these subtle cues, the stronger your intuitive channel becomes.

Before you can practice intuitive work, you need to practice grounding (feeling safe precedes spiritual awareness). Start by feeling your feet, breathe deeply, or place your hand over your heart before making decisions.

Affirm: “I am grounded, clear, and receptive to wisdom.”

3. Journal Your Intuitive Hits

Track intuitive nudges and how they show up. Write down moments where you felt an instinct, and what happened when you followed or ignored it. This helps you build evidence of your intuition’s accuracy and strengthens self-trust.

Prompt: “When have I known something without logic? What did it feel like in my body?”

4. Balance Logic and Intuition

A healthy Third Eye doesn’t reject rational thought; it integrates it. Before making decisions, try this:

  1. Write the facts (logic).

  2. Write what your intuition feels or senses.

  3. Then ask: “Which path feels expansive? Which feels constricting?”

Over time, this alignment helps you live in coherence to allow your mind and intuition to work together.

5. Support the Third Eye Physically

This chakra is nourished by deep rest, hydration, and mindfulness practices. Support it by:

  • Limiting screen time

  • Eating antioxidant-rich foods (blueberries, walnuts, green tea)

  • Using essential oils like lavender, sandalwood, or frankincense

  • Practicing candle-gazing or visualization meditations


Healing the Third Eye After Trauma

For many trauma survivors, the Third Eye chakra becomes blocked by distrust (as mentioned earlier), not only with others, but with the self. After betrayal, gaslighting, or chronic stress, intuition can feel unreliable.

Healing means rebuilding internal safety so your intuitive knowing feels trustworthy again. This might involve grounding, inner child work (check out this blog post to learn more), or learning to interpret your body’s signals without fear.

Affirm: “It is safe to trust myself again.”


The Gift of a Balanced Third Eye Chakra

When balanced, your Third Eye brings clarity, calm confidence, and intuitive wisdom. You trust yourself deeply, navigate life from alignment, and see truth beyond illusions of fear or ego.

You no longer chase external answers and follow pre-conceived notions established by family, society or others; you become your own guide.

  • Deep sense of purpose and guidance
